Green Energy. Your Energy. A Solar Power Case Study.

Meet Sharon, a Cablerite customer big on solar and already earning energy credits.

We love a good solar story, so we’ve enlisted Sharon to help us shout from the rooftops how good an investment in solar can be for your place. Thanks for your insight Sharon!

Sharon has been both an electrical and solar client of ours, so she knows a thing or two about us.

A local Tauranga resident, Sharon is a retiree who lives in a gorgeous spot in Te Puna. An orchardist in a previous life, Sharon is now happily retired in a three bedroom, two bathroom home on a lifestyle block, with an extra two bedroom unit on the property.

Built in the 90s, Sharon has retrofitted solar panels to create energy for her entire home, as well as the unit. She lives alone, with grandkids and family coming and going, and while she could have chosen to go with fewer solar panels for her power usage, she chose to future proof her home and install enough solar panels for the energy demands of a full house.

Why solar power?

Sharon views solar as an investment in her property as well as relief from an everyday cost, and she’s already reaping the rewards with an immediate change in her power bill. To Sharon’s delight, her first full month on solar resulted in a $5 power credit! Who doesn’t love a free coffee? On top of a $0 power bill.

Solar had always been on Sharon’s list of to dos, and once she moved into her new home a year ago, it became a viable investment.

Sharon saw what was happening in the UK with electricity prices tripling and as a retiree didn’t want to lose control of her cost of living if power prices were to rise exponentially in NZ too.

Solar also meant never having to worry about power cuts – a common concern living rurally.

Solar takes the stress away of always wondering when the next power cut will be. It gives me more autonomy and control over my power and my finances,” says Sharon.

Sharon’s also keen to go completely off-grid in the future and has planned for that too, with an inverter to store unused power already installed, her solar system can have a generator added down the track to be completely self-sufficient with little fuss.

How are those power bills looking?

What power bill? Sharon’s first full month of solar saw her get a $5 power credit!

Choosing Cablerite.

Sharon first used Cablerite’s sister company, AVS, for heating and cooling across various properties. Valuing using a local, family run business, and appreciating the team’s customer service, Sharon decided to try Cablerite for some electrical projects, and, well, the rest is history. For Sharon, it was a no brainer to use us again for her solar install.

I didn’t get any other quotes, I knew the rough cost of solar and I trusted that Cablerite would deliver a quality project within a reasonable budget.  They did, and I knew they would. Cablerite really puts effort into establishing long-term relationships, I trust them completely to do an excellent job. The team are incredibly honest and friendly when it comes to service,” explained Sharon.

So how did we do?

The installation process was hassle free, and only took three days to complete. They were completely transparent with pricing, knew exactly what I needed, and it was a fuss free project with clear communication throughout.” A 10 out of 10 job! ” - Sharon kind words.

Life after solar power.

Sharon is loving knowing she’s in total control of her power and if something goes wrong, she’ll always have power. “In the short time I’ve had solar, I’ve already had a neighbour ask if my power was out. I had no idea there was an issue!"

Let’s not forget the immediate $0 power bill which had Sharon doing a little jump for joy, knowing she now has greater control over her cashflow and is free from fluctuating energy prices.

Does Sharon recommend solar with Cablerite?

She absolutely does.

“I’ve got people lined up out the door for Cablerite solar installs, that’s how much I value their work. I can’t recommend them highly enough,”
