Solar energy is a great way to create a greener, more sustainable home. But how does it work exactly? We’re glad you asked.
1.The cells of your solar panels absorb sunlight.
2. The silicon and conductors within the panels convert this light into direct current energy.
3. This energy flows into the inverter and is converted into alternating current energy - which is what we need to power our home.
4. Energy is only created during the day. You can store this energy in a battery for future use.

If you don’t have a battery to store your energy and you’re connected to the main power grid, that power gets sent back to the grid and you’re credited money back on your power bill.

Being connected to the grid means you can still draw power from the main power company grid, and if you don’t make enough power for your home you can still access power. If you make too much you can get money back for power sent back to the main grid. You’ll still receive a monthly power bill, just a much smaller one.

Off-grid means completely relying on your own energy source.

Energy is made during daylight hours, if you’re not home during the day it’s wise to have a battery installed to store your energy for when you need it. If you don’t have a battery, you won’t have enough energy stored to get you through night time hours.
