From one job to whole home electrical and Solar Power.
What started off as an enquiry into an integrated stereo system for Grant and Trudy’s Papamoa home ended up as a complete partnership with Cablerite, including whole home electrical work and installing solar in the couple’s beachside home.
Newly retired, Grant and Trudy moved to Papamoa from Hawke’s Bay 18 months ago looking to spend their days beachside and closer to family. To complete their lifestyle change, Trudy and Grant renovated their beachside home into a sun filled, connected, relaxed home, with everything they needed to enjoy their newly minted retirement life.
Choosing Cablerite
Being new to the area, a quick Google search led them to Cablerite. Grant says, from the first call it was clear Mitch was personable, smart and full of great advice.
“Mitch came round for a chat about installing a stereo system and as the job progressed so did our partnership with them across our whole home,” says Grant.
Not only did they install our stereo system, but they’ve also rewired our home, and we got to talking about solar.
“We’d been interested in investing in solar as bills seemed to be creeping up and up. Being newly retired and settled in our new home, investment in solar made sense to save our funds to enjoy, rather than going to power bills,” says Grant.
After discussing it with the team to understand the process and what was required to make solar the right investment for their home, Trudy and Grant opted for 18 solar panels including a battery to service their 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home, including two lounge areas.
Solar Savings
Trudy and Grant noticed a difference to their power bills almost immediately.
They generate more than enough power during the day to power their whole home and are already seeing huge savings in their energy bills, which are now as low as $25 a month (and they expect their bills to be even lower soon when they upgrade their battery storage.)
During the summer they are generating up to 50 kilowatts a day which is much more than they need and a lot is currently being credited back to the main grid.
“We’d rather save additional power for our own usage rather than sending it back to the main grid so we’re expanding our battery system with Cablerite to store excess power,” says Grant.
“We’ve also changed our habits to make the most of the sun during the day - running the dishwasher and washing machine during the day, and we’re pretty free and easy with the dryer now that we’ve got solar and can see such a difference in our power bills,” laughs Grant.
So how did we do?
The best part about dealing with Cablerite is that their service and installation is seamless, says Grant.
They are just really clever, adds Trudy. “They think outside the box and have really smart solutions to create an integrated home.”
“They show up when they say they will, and they do what they say they will every time. We’ve had loads of experience in renovations and sadly, trustworthy and quality service has not always been the case, so we’ve really appreciated that we can rely on Mitch and his team to do a neat and tidy job, and commit to what they have said they’d do,” says Grant.
“It’s really impressive.”
They’ve been so impressed with Cablerite’s work from whole home electrical to solar, they’ve recommended them to their family in Auckland building a new home and will proudly back the team 100%.
“The team at Cablerite are knowledgeable and provide great service from electrical through to solar systems. We were so impressed with their work ethic and their commitment to the job, we back them 100% and recommend them to anyone.”
